The Senior Payroll Manager is responsible for ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely payroll processing, with a strong focus on wage and tax reporting, payroll transformation initiatives, and team leadership. The ideal candidate combines deep technical payroll expertise with project management capabilities and a results-driven mindset. Overall, the Senior Payroll Manager will be tasked to lead and optimize payroll operations across the United States, Canada, and Latin America (LATAM).

What You’ll Do:

  • Manage payroll resources and vendors across the U.S., Canada and LATAM (Mexico, Brazil, Chile, Colombia) countries, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance of end to end payroll with local regulations
  • Manage wage and tax reporting, including quarterly and annual filings (e.g., W-2s, and applicable LATAM reporting requirements)
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws, as well as country-specific regulations across LATAM
  • Partner with Legal, HR, and Finance to stay ahead of regulatory changes and implement necessary updates
  • Liaise with payroll counterparts in APAC and EMEA to ensure global consistency of Datadog’s payroll processes and practices.
  • Partner with the HRIS team for configuration and testing of new codes, tax withholding configurations, inbound/outbound integrations, and all other payroll related projects involving Workday.
  • Partner with the Benefits team on all matters involving benefits across the Americas region including open enrollment, testing of new benefit codes, and 401k compliance audits/5500 testing. 
  • Partner with Finance stakeholders bridging the relationship between Payroll and Finance functions supporting audits, identifying and implementing control improvements, and ensuring efficient processes are rigorously followed.
  • Partner with Equity team for purposes of recording transactions related to restricted stock units, performance stock units, non-qualified stock options, incentive stock options and employee stock purchase plan (ESPP).
  • Improve internal controls to satisfy SOX auditing requirements while simultaneously creating efficiencies by leveraging Workday and AI technology.

Who You Are:

  • At least 10 years of payroll processing experience.
  • At least 4 years of team management experience.
  • Ability to manage a diverse team.
  • Experience with Workday HRIS and payroll module is required.
  • Extensive knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal controls, quarter and year end wage and tax balancing.
  • Extensive knowledge of equity compensation processing and reporting.
  • Additional experience using ADP Smart Compliance reporting platform, ADP WorkForce Now and other global payroll platforms.
  • Additional experience working with PEOs or similar third-party providers. 
  • Proficiency in Excel including pivot tables, VLookups, conditional formatting, if-and formulas.
  • Ability to interpret and communicate policies, procedures and programs.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders across all levels, from employees to senior leadership.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong technical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong supervisory and team leadership skills.
  • Service-oriented attitude and patience working with a diverse employee population. 
  • Critical thinking and judgment skills.
  • Self-sufficient and able to work independently.
