Senior Software Engineer – Observability Governance/SRE (Paris)

Paris, France

The Governance SRE team is part of Datadog’s Core Observability group within our broader SRE and Security organization. Our mission is to help teams across the company use Datadog’s platform effectively and securely. We do that by improving the platform’s usage experience, building guardrails, automating policies and making sure our observability practices scale smoothly across regions and organizations.

As a Senior Software Engineer on this team, you’ll take the lead on projects that reduce friction for internal engineers and improve the reliability and security of how we operate Datadog at scale. You’ll work closely with product, security, and engineering teams, contributing both to internal tooling and to our customer-facing products. This role is a great fit if you’re excited by big-picture thinking and transverse exposure, care about building resilient systems and want to help others move fast without breaking things.

At Datadog, we place value in our office culture,  the relationships and collaboration it builds and the creativity it brings to the table. We operate as a hybrid workplace to ensure our Datadogs can create a work-life harmony that best fits them.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead key initiatives that improve how Datadog is used internally by designing tools, systems, or product features that support governance and security at scale.

  • Build and maintain internal platforms that make it easy for teams to follow best practices without slowing down.

  • Support new internal organizations by automating setup, monitoring, and policy enforcement, reducing manual steps and preventing misconfigurations.

  • Align internal identity and access practices with Datadog’s IAM principles to ensure consistency and security.

  • Partner with teams across the company to design solutions and build roadmaps that meet internal and external enterprise customer needs

  • Join the team’s on-call rotation and contribute to a strong culture of operational excellence.

Who You Are:

  • You have 5+ years of experience as a software engineer working on production systems at scale.

  • You’ve worked with observability platforms or telemetry pipelines in cloud-native environments.

  • You write clean, maintainable code (ideally in Go or Python) and enjoy building tools that others rely on.

  • You’re comfortable solving complex problems and balancing technical trade-offs with user needs.

  • You communicate clearly and enjoy collaborating with others to get things done.

  • You’ve led initiatives with broad impact across engineering teams and know how to drive adoption.

  • You are comfortable integrating AI-driven solutions into platform systems, with a focus on reliability, scalability, and impact.

Datadog values people from all walks of life. We understand not everyone will meet all the above qualifications on day one. That's okay. If you’re passionate about technology and want to grow your skills, we encourage you to apply.
