Datadog's Strategic Finance team transforms data from Datadog and external sources into actionable analytical insights on a cross-departmental basis, to drive positive change at Datadog. Building bottom-up and top-down analysis about our products and business activity, this team delivers insights on longer-term company opportunities, forecasts, and goals. This team delivers industry and competitive insights to executives and business leaders, and delivers near-term insights by analyzing internal usage data. This team also partners cross-functionally to evaluate strategic business and go-to-market opportunities. The Strategic Finance Associate will report to the SVP, Investor Relations & Strategic Finance, and will interact with colleagues in the finance team and across the company.

We are seeking a Strategic Finance Associate to join Datadog. They will play an integral role in the data collection and transformation, analysis, delivery, and communication of material and information to internal stakeholders across multiple divisions. They will be instrumental in turning data into meaningful insights, crafting reports illuminating takeaways and action items from those insights, and communicating these across the company. By doing so, this team will drive positive change to help Datadog grow and scale our business.

What You’ll Do:

  • Use advanced analytics to study revenue, product / platform, customer usage, and penetration trends.
  • Develop meaningful insights on those trends, and disseminate analytical insights and action items using dashboards, presentations and reports tuned to various stakeholders and their interests.
  • Participate in transformation projects to improve processes, automate repetitive tasks, increase data quality, and enable more stakeholders with data insights
  • Create deliverables around near-term insights and provide analytical support on forecasting and planning processes.
  • Craft top-down and bottom-up analyses to deliver long-term insights on the business and growth opportunities
  • Support the preparation of presentations
  • Collaborate across the organization, including finance, sales ops, product, marketing, and sales.
  • Support ad hoc analytical projects from senior management, finance, etc.

Who You Are:

  • Strong sense of ownership, intellectual curiosity, and an ability to think creatively and critically
  • Strong understanding of the financials and metrics performance, as well as the ability to gain understanding the product & market, to distill into accessible and informative reports and narratives
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience communicating data heavy insights to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to create and derive analytical implications from complex analyses and forecasting models
  • Ability to craft impactful visualizations, reports, and presentations, making analyses 
  • BA/BS in Data Science, Computer Science/Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or other quantitative fields
  • At least 1-3 years of professional experience, likely as a business analyst, data analyst, or in a quantitative finance or consulting role.
  • Experience manipulating and analyzing complex datasets using SQL and/or Python.
  • Proficiency with Excel
