Senior Software Engineer - AI Supply Chain Security
Boston, Massachusetts, USA; New York, New York, USA
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join as the founding member of our AI Supply Chain Security group, focused specifically on securing the lifecycle of AI-driven applications. As GenAI and LLM usage continues to proliferate across Datadog’s internal tooling and product suite, we’re looking for someone to partner directly with internal platform and product teams on building secure-by-default platform controls that enable Datadog developers to leverage AI/ML systems safely.
You will be responsible for ensuring the security of Datadog’s AI platform and products by developing secure solutions, performing threat modeling, remediating AI-specific vulnerabilities and implementing AI based solutions to common security problems. You’ll be involved in every step of securing our supply chain and the AI platforms that enable Datadog—modeling risks for existing and new areas, designing solutions that mitigate threats to ourselves and our customers, and writing mission critical software that secures our software from source all the way to runtime.
What You'll Do:
- Gain a thorough understanding of Datadog’s AI platform and products, including their architecture, functionalities, underlying technologies, security implications, and how they are used by customers.
- Develop secure-by-default solutions for all AI applications by extending our platforms to secure AI tools and agents.
- Work with engineering teams to ensure new AI features meet world-class security standards, addressing unique AI vulnerabilities.
- Prioritize and remediate top AI product and service threats, such as prompt injection, data poisoning, and model evasion, by developing and maintaining continuous testing frameworks for prompt injection vulnerabilities.
- Work on LLM based code scanning and dependency remediation tooling, as well as on secure sandboxing for safe execution of AI generated code
- Perform threat modeling with engineering teams for new and existing AI products, focusing on emerging AI-specific threats.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for other teams on building, delivering, and deploying secure AI code at Datadog.
- Establish security standards for AI-powered products and services to ensure we meet industry standards.
- Represent Datadog in the security community
Who You Are:
- Experience in implementing secure-by-default frameworks, libraries, and solutions for applications.
- Proven ability to collaborate with product managers and engineers to embed security throughout the development lifecycle.
- Expertise in key management solutions and cryptographic methodologies (Vault, KMS)
- You are fluent in one or more modern coding languages (Python, Go, etc.)
- You are able to work closely with engineering and DevOps teams to integrate security seamlessly into the development process.
- You are willing to participate in Datadog’s on-call rotation and culture and support production level systems
- You are familiar with securing cloud environments (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) and Kubernetes based development
- You want to work in an environment with exciting challenges and opportunities to make an impact.
Datadog values people from all walks of life. We understand not everyone will meet all the above qualifications on day one. That's okay. If you’re passionate about technology and want to grow your skills, we encourage you to apply.
