Financial Transformation Analyst - NYC

New York, New York, USA

As a Finance Transformation Analyst, you will play a key role in modernizing the finance organization through process automation and data analytics initiatives. Sitting within the Finance Transformation team, this role collaborates closely with stakeholders across Accounting, FP&A, Tax, and other finance functions to enhance the efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of financial systems and reporting. You will be expected to know and leverage tools (ex: Tableau, SQL, NetSuite, and Python) to analyze data, build scalable reporting solutions, and support system implementations or upgrades.

Success in this role requires strong analytical and communication skills, as you will need to clearly explain technical solutions to non-technical audiences and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously. Within this role, you will work collaboratively with the broader Finance Systems team to proactively identify opportunities, drive automation, and deliver insights that support better financial decision-making.

At Datadog, we place value in our office culture - the relationships and collaboration it builds, and the creativity it brings to the table. We operate as a hybrid workplace to ensure our Datadogs can create a work-life harmony that best fits them.

What You’ll Do:

  • Partner with Accounting, FP&A, Tax, and other finance functions to gather requirements, understand business needs, and translate them into technical reporting solutions.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with data teams outside of Finance - including IT, Business Systems, Sales Systems, and Internal Analytics - to initiate, drive, and complete data analytics projects across the organization.
  • Build and maintain KPI dashboards that track financial and operational performance; ensure alignment with evolving business objectives and priorities.
  • Streamline recurring financial close tasks by automating and enhancing data workflows using Tableau and SQL.
  • Assist with data migration, mapping, and reporting integration efforts during financial system upgrades or implementations.
  • Help maintain documentation for finance team members to enable self-service reporting and ensure adoption of new tools and dashboards.
  • Provide ad hoc and recurring analytical insights to finance leaders using Tableau, SQL, and visualization tools; distill large data sets into actionable insights that inform strategic decision-making.

Who You Are:

  • 2-4 years of professional experience in data analytics, financial systems or a related field.
  • Bachelors degree in Data Analytics, Information Systems, Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field.
  • Experience building dashboards and reports in Tableau (or similar BI tools like Power BI or Looker).
  • Proficiency in SQL for data extraction, transformation, and analysis.
  • Familiarity with financial systems (NetSuite, Zip, Workday, etc.).
  • Adaptable and open to learning new tools and systems.
  • Working knowledge of Python for data analysis, automation, or process improvement.
  • Solid understanding of financial processes and/or experience with finance transformation projects.
  • Familiarity with Workato, dbt, and/or Salesforce.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams.
  • Comfortable presenting findings and insights to various levels of the organization.
  • Highly organized with a proactive, self-starter mindset.
