Website Development Engineer II - Web Enablement

New York, New York, USA

Datadog’s WebOps team is responsible for building and maintaining a world-class web experience that serves millions of users each month. We empower internal teams to deliver high-quality content and services seamlessly while ensuring our web presence is performant, scalable, and aligned with Datadog’s brand and business goals.

We are the product and engineering team behind Datadog’s public-facing websites—the digital “storefront” for 1.5M monthly visitors, including customers and prospects. Partnering closely with internal teams, we define success for each web initiative, make strategic roadmapping decisions, and build high-impact web products. From planning to post-launch analysis, we focus on delivering experiences that are fast, reliable, and effective in driving Datadog’s growth.

Our stack includes Astro, Hugo, AWS, GCP, GitLab, Terraform, Serverless, and of course, Datadog itself. As a Website Development Engineer on the team, you’ll build and optimize high-quality digital experiences that reflect Datadog’s voice and brand. You’ll ensure our websites are performant, accessible, and easy to update, while also equipping internal teams with the tools and workflows they need to contribute efficiently. Your work will have a significant impact, reaching tens of thousands of users daily.

At Datadog, we place value in our office culture - the relationships and collaboration it builds and the creativity it brings to the table. We operate as a hybrid workplace to ensure our Datadogs can create a work-life harmony that best fits them.

What You’ll Do:

  • Frontend development using Hugo and Astro static site generators, Webpack/ESBuild, SCSS, vanilla JS, Bootstrap/TailwindCSS
  • Build new areas of our corporate sites: new pages, templates, and UI elements using modern frameworks, tooling, and tests
  • Optimize the performance of Datadog’s public-facing web sites
  • Audit and improve site hygiene for SEO, accessibility, and user experience
  • Manage and refine analytic and compliance tracking tools such as GA, GTM and TrustArc
  • Experiment with and optimize on-page elements and site navigation, prioritizing progressive enhancement and performance.

Who You Are:

  • You can build responsive, modern web pages with HTML, Tailwind / Sass, and Javascript ES6+ and / or NodeJS
  • You have approximately 3-5 years+ of web development experience working on a large, public website and utilizing headless content management systems
  • You are fanatical about details: code style, exact rendering, performance, and good design
  • You have experience working with Figma and implementing design system components
  • You have experience with Astro, Hugo, 11ty, or other static site generator
  • You develop with a global audience in mind: familiarity with internationalization best practices, accessibility and usability.

Datadog values people from all walks of life. We understand not everyone will meet all the above qualifications on day one. That's okay. If you’re passionate about technology and want to grow your skills, we encourage you to apply.
