Software Engineer - Intern, SRE

We’re looking for engineering interns to join us to help influence the engineering organization at Datadog through an efficient use of observability and resilience best practices. You'll join one of Datadog's Site Reliability Engineering teams and work alongside other engineers to help solve complex reliability and observability problems. Whether you are building scalable full-stack tools that have company-wide impact or rolling out processes that every engineer at Datadog will use, our early-career engineers are key contributors to our product.

This job is available in various departments within our company; to conform to US export control regulations, some of these roles may require candidates to be eligible for any required authorizations from the US government.

What You’ll Do:
- Design, build, and maintain tools to automate and streamline game days in Datadog.
- Ensure our tools are user-friendly, scalable, and safe to earn trust and minimize risks during live execution.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate chaos engineering into the development lifecycle.
- Design and implement internal tooling that supports our observability use cases in partnership with Engineering teams.
- Work with our product teams to influence and agree on solutions for internal SRE use cases. By doing this, we also promote best practices and improve reliability across Datadog products!
- Collaborate with the other SRE teams on projects like large-scale game days, defining SLOs, etc.
Who You Are:
- You are targeting a 2026 full-time start date
- You are in the process of receiving/have a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
- You are comfortable coding in one or more languages (experience with Go or Python is a plus)
- You have strong computer science fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, software design, operating systems, networking, to name a few)
- You have taken classes or have done individual projects that are site reliability engineering focused or adjacent, and are curious to learn more about it
- You are a self-starter who enjoys working with other people and are motivated in making the lives of your engineering peers a bit easier
- You value code simplicity and performance
- You have worked as a software engineering intern or have related industry experience
- You are interested in solving the challenges of reliability at a fast-growing tech company
- You are available to work full-time from the Datadog New York office from May 12, 2025 - August 15, 2025; May 12, 2025 - August 22, 2025; or June 2, 2025 - August 22, 2025
