Datadog is seeking a Director of Marketing to be based in Tokyo, Japan. This role will report to the Sr. Director of APJ Marketing. As Director of Marketing for Japan, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing our marketing strategy for the Japan market. We are seeking an individual with a proven track record in strategic field marketing, a passion for technology, and a commitment to exceeding goals - surpassing industry standards - and running a best-in-class field marketing organization.

What You’ll Do:

 

  • Develop, implement and continuously optimize Datadog’s marketing strategy in Japan while leading and mentoring a high performing team of marketers. 
  • Create a compelling marketing plan to drive pipeline growth in Japan. A special emphasis will be placed on events (both first and third party) and digital marketing. 
  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of Datadog's product, market position, personas, competition, and market trends for adapting and optimizing the global marketing plan in the Japan market.
  • Sales, operations, and adjacent marketing teams will be your key allies. You will partner closely with regional sales leadership to curate the region’s field plans on a quarterly basis. Set clear OKRs utilizing KPIs to meet goals. Data analysis, forecasting, workflows, and enablement plans are your go-to tools. Regularly present metrics in QSRs, Global Field Marketing QBRs, regional all hands, and leadership meetings. Oversee end-to-end program management. 
  • You and your team will utilize the US-based marketing team and in region agencies and partners to create demand and generate leads across various channels. Optimize the field channel mix to respond to changes in the market. Evaluate program success for future planning and effective budget management. 
  • Act as the main point of contact and enablement for the Japan sales team, ensuring effective communication of marketing plans, goals, metrics, and results.
  • Proactively collaborate with various marketing teams to plan and execute larger portions of owned (DASH, Datadog Summit, and Datadog Live) and sponsored partner events (i.e. Reinvent & AWS).
  • Partner with Datadog’s experienced recruitment and HR team to recruit, hire and onboard new team members.

Who You Are: 

  • A leader who consistently applies a growth mindset to execute a multi-touch, multi-channel go-to-market strategy, surpassing both goals and industry standards.
  • In depth marketing experience working in the Japan market.
  • Team-oriented approach ensures seamless alignment across the organization. 
  • Thrive on data and engage with systems to collect, analyze and share data relative to your programs for pipeline planning.
  • 15+ years of relevant field and marketing experience in B2B SaaS marketing to the enterprise in Japan.
  • Outstanding organizational skills, ability to follow through, and capable of meeting deadlines while balancing multiple projects and priorities
  • Exceptional oral, written, and presentation skills
  • Experience with CRM (Salesforce), Google Suite, project management and sales enablement workflows.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
