Staff Software Engineer - Bits AI

New York, New York, USA

Datadog is building AI-assisted agents to help our users investigate and remediate problems. This ambitious project consumes data about our customers’ problems, proposes potential solutions, and offers those solutions to users with manual and automated steps. The goal for the team is to provide pathways to resolve problems identified across Datadog products.

We’re looking for a product-minded Staff Software Engineer with ML/AI experience to be the technical lead  for the effort. We are not building models directly; rather, we’re employing appropriate technologies, including but not limited to generative AI, to provide this experience for users.

At Datadog, we place value in our office culture - the relationships and collaboration it builds and the creativity it brings to the table. We operate as a hybrid workplace to ensure our Datadogs can create a work-life harmony that best fits them.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead technical effort to develop the architecture, patterns, and individual solutions to investigate and remediate problems
  • Represent and evangelize the project across Datadog
  • Regularly speak with users to discover their needs and feedback
  • Navigate tradeoffs between thoroughness and time-to-market, understanding how to provide the right level of value to customers at the right time
  • Work with other Datadog teams to integrate their domain expertise into solution pathways
  • Mentor and grow other engineers on the team and beyond

Who You Are:

  • You’re passionate about Generative AI and its ability to help software engineers and SREs be more productive
  • You ship fast, route around blockers, and are comfortable working with ambiguity
  • You love talking with users
  • You’re happy to jump into any part of the stack and do whatever’s needed to move a project forward
  • You may have been a founder or early builder at a startup– this is a similar kind of effort
  • You have a BS/MS/PhD in a Computer Science, Engineering or related scientific field or equivalent experience

Datadog values people from all walks of life. We understand not everyone will meet all the above qualifications on day one. That's okay. If you’re passionate about technology and want to grow your skills, we encourage you to apply.

Benefits and Growth:

  • Get to build tools for software engineers, just like yourself. And use the tools we build to accelerate our development
  • Have a lot of influence on product direction and impact on the business
  • Work with skilled, knowledgeable, and kind teammates who are happy to teach and learn
  • Competitive global benefits
  • Continuous professional development

Benefits and Growth listed above may vary based on the country of your employment and the nature of your employment with Datadog.

Datadog offers a competitive salary and equity package, and may include variable compensation. Actual compensation is based on factors such as the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience. In addition, Datadog offers a wide range of best in class, comprehensive and inclusive employee benefits for this role including healthcare, dental, parental planning, and mental health benefits, a 401(k) plan and match, paid time off, fitness reimbursements, and a discounted employee stock purchase plan.
