Software Engineer - Agent

The Agent Metric Logs team at Datadog is responsible for the collection of metrics and logs in Datadog’s open-source Agent which schedules, collects logs, and processes hundreds of thousand of data points per second from monitored applications. On the metrics side the team works on optimizing the performance of the metrics collection while keeping the lowest footprint possible on our customer’s systems. Similarly, keeping our logs collection reliable is key. The team also works on the open-source client libraries that allow customers to submit metrics from their applications. The team is also responsible for some of the core functionality of the Datadog Agent, including code that is shared across multiple parts of the Datadog Agent and the OpenTelemetry project. The Datadog Agent runs on Linux, Windows, Mac OS, and on AMD/Intel and ARM architectures. The Datadog Agent is deployed on millions of customer hosts in containerized environments, on virtual machines, and in dedicated datacenters.

We operate at high scale—trillions of data points per day—providing always-on alerting, metrics visualization, logs, application tracing, and security insights for tens of thousands of companies.
