Software Engineer II - Distributed Systems (Metrics Intake)

Metrics Intake is a fundamental team at Datadog reliably providing our platforms downstream services hundreds of millions of data points per second with low latency. Members of the Metrics Intake team play a direct role in allowing customers a view into real-time mission critical observability metrics through the ingestion, normalization, and resolution of timeseries data. Engineers with a background or interest in the challenges of stream processing, failure resiliency, sharding strategies and the efficient handling of high volume data are encouraged to apply.

What You Will Do: 

  • Build and operate distributed, high-throughput, real-time data pipelines
  • Use Go, Redis, Kafka, Cassandra, Postgres and other open-source components
  • Own meaningful parts of our service, have a direct impact, grow with the company
  • Remove scaling and reliability bottlenecks in critical services


Who You Are: 

  • BS/MS/PhD in STEM field or equivalent experience 
  • Experience with one or more programing languages (Go, Java, Rust, C++, Python) 
  • Background in building high scale, low latency Distributed Systems 
  • Desire to work in a fast paced, high-growth tech first environment
