Manager, Engineering II - Compute Cloud

Denver, Colorado, USA

As the EMII for Compute Cloud you are responsible for the teams that own all of the tooling, processes, and systems for managing and interacting with our cloud providers. At Datadog we operate at a massive scale across multiple cloud providers, in multiple regions, and in multiple regulated environments. You and your teams are the primary interface between all of Datadog’s engineering teams and the cloud providers that we run on. This is a mission critical and high visibility role which presents unique opportunities to learn and grow.

In addition to the operational responsibilities intrinsic to this scope, your teams will be responsible for building the next generation of abstractions, interfaces, and systems that will allow engineers across Datadog to manage cloud resources across multiple providers and regions safely, efficiently, and effectively.

At Datadog, we place value in our office culture - the relationships and collaboration it builds and the creativity it brings to the table. We operate as a hybrid workplace to ensure our Datadogs can create a work-life harmony that best fits them.

What You’ll Do:

  • Own the “as a user” side of our relationships with cloud providers
  • Support your teams in delivering mission critical systems that handle cloud provider resource management, internal identity & permissions, and interfaces between the cloud providers and our systems
  • Collaborate with engineering, security, finance, and other teams across the organization to support a wide variety of business function ranging from day to day operations to executing on M&A
  • Support the growth of your teams through recruiting and career development
  • Guide your teams through the transition from internal subject matter expert consultants to internal product and platform providers

Who You Are:

  • Have led multiple engineering teams with substantial operational and reliability responsibilities
  • Have experience working with cloud providers for both long term planning and urgent incident response
  • Are familiar with the technologies and practices associated with operating large scale cloud infrastructure
  • Have experience mentoring and supporting engineers with a wide range of experience and backgrounds
  • Have experience building and supporting internal facing platforms that are used by a large engineering team

Datadog values people from all walks of life. We understand not everyone will meet all the above qualifications on day one. That's okay. If you’re passionate about technology and want to grow your skills, we encourage you to apply.

Benefits and Growth:

  • New hire stock equity (RSUs) and employee stock purchase plan (ESPP)
  • Continuous professional development, product training, and career pathing
  • Intradepartmental mentor and buddy program for in-house networking
  • An inclusive company culture, ability to join our Community Guilds (Datadog employee resource groups)
  • Access to Inclusion Talks, our internal panel discussions
  • Free, global mental health benefits for employees and dependents age 6+
  • Competitive global benefits

Benefits and Growth listed above may vary based on the country of your employment and the nature of your employment with Datadog.

The reasonably estimated salary for this role at Datadog ranges from $234,000 - $300,000, plus a competitive equity package, and may include variable compensation. Actual compensation is based on factors such as the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience. In addition, Datadog offers a wide range of best in class, comprehensive and inclusive employee benefits for this role including healthcare, dental, parental planning, and mental health benefits, a 401(k) plan and match, paid time off, fitness reimbursements, and a discounted employee stock purchase plan.
