Manager, Engineering I - Internal Analytics Research

New York City, New York, USA; Boston, Massachusetts, USA

We’re looking for an Engineering Manager to lead our Internal Analytics Research team, a new team founded within our Data & Analytics organization. This team does deep research into specific sectors of the tech industry and state of the art technologies, such as serverless or container runtime platforms, in order to better understand best practices and trends in the space. We share our findings with our external communities and use these newfound insights to internally better our products.

As a leader of this team, you’ll work with Data Engineers and Data Analysts to build out high-scale, cross-cloud data platforms that enable research, as well as do deep analysis with teams across the company.

At Datadog, we place value in our office culture - the relationships and collaboration it builds and the creativity it brings to the table. We operate as a hybrid workplace to ensure our Datadogs can create a work-life harmony that best fits them.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead a team of data engineers and data analysts in doing deep statistical research and analysis on trends in the technology industry
  • Design and build systems that process and analyze data at scale, using Spark, Luigi, Snowflake, DBT and other technologies
  • Help teams across the company, including Product, Engineering, Design, Marketing, and Community, tell a data-driven story with our data
  • Wear multiple hats: software engineer, data engineer, and data analyst, in order to build production systems from end-to-end
  • Join a highly collaborative team eager to solve hard problems the right way
  • Grow and scale with Datadog

Who You Are:

  • A software engineer and data engineer at heart, with a passion for data storytelling
  • A proven ability to architect, build, and operate distributed systems to solve problems at high scale
  • A passion to work in a fast-paced, high-growth startup environment to build a brand new division

Datadog values people from all walks of life. We know not everyone will meet all the above qualifications on day one. That’s okay. If you’re passionate about technology and want to grow your experience, we encourage you to apply.

Benefits & Growth:

  • New hire stock equity (RSUs) and employee stock purchase plan (ESPP)
  • Continuous professional development, product training, and career pathing
  • Intradepartmental mentor and buddy program for in-house networking
  • An inclusive company culture, ability to join our Community Guilds (Datadog employee resource groups)
  • Access to Inclusion Talks, our internal panel discussions
  • Free, global mental health benefits for employees and dependents age 6+
  • Competitive global benefits

Benefits and Growth listed above may vary based on the country of your employment and the nature of your employment with Datadog.

The reasonably estimated salary for this role at Datadog ranges from $187,000 - $240,000, plus a competitive equity package, and may include variable compensation. Actual compensation is based on factors such as the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience. In addition, Datadog offers a wide range of best in class, comprehensive and inclusive employee benefits for this role including healthcare, dental, parental planning, and mental health benefits, a 401(k) plan and match, paid time off, fitness reimbursements, and a discounted employee stock purchase plan.
