Engineering Manager II, Release Tracking Tools

This is an opportunity to lead an effort that involves building a team to provide Datadog customers with better visibility and confidence when it comes to releasing new features and deployments. The role involves working across various product teams and building end to end products and features. It presents plenty of scope for project and career growth and an opportunity to lead overall architecture and build foundational components, while also hiring and growing the team and driving the team culture.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead and build a talented team of software engineers, who are responsible for building the end to end product, including data collection, APIs, and data visualization and user experience.
  • Play an active role in recruiting and coaching and grooming new leaders to help grow the team into multiple sub-teams over time
  • Lead the team on developing features and products to help customers measure the impact  of making changes or releasing new features
  • Work with the team and its partners to define vision, strategy, and roadmap, and work to help both junior and senior engineers address the challenges of implementing them, advancing their careers while producing high quality software
  • Partner closely with product management and design teams to develop intuitive, powerful and beautiful user workflows that best leverage the vast amount of information being collected
  • Ensure the development and continuous improvement of a scalable and reliable architecture that can keep up with the growth of the product in a sustainable manner

Who You Are: 

  • You have experience in building and growing teams, and have 3+ years management experience, including managing managers of one or more teams.
  • You have experience in building distributed systems, including understanding of Observability systems.
  • You have 5+ years of work experience building high-scale, distributed systems.
  • You have experience in working and communicating effectively in a fast-paced, high growth, distributed organization
  • You have partnered with product management and design teams in the past to set the vision and strategy for your projects
  • You have a track record of motivating teams by setting clear and ambitious goals, and providing the support and coaching required to achieve them

The reasonably estimated salary for this role at Datadog ranges from $234,000 to $300,000, plus a competitive equity package, and may include variable compensation. Actual compensation is based on factors such as the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience.
