The Payroll Manager is responsible for processing and compliance involving payrolls either directly through Workday and ADP or indirectly via a PEO (Professional Employer Organization) for the Americas (US, Canada, Mexico, and Brazil). The individual will work closely with the internal team and with local payroll providers in order to securely process payroll within specified deadlines. Qualified candidates must be able to follow through on objectives, quality of service, and operational performance within a team environment.

What You’ll Do:

  • Manage the preparation and processing of payroll, ensuring data accuracy and meeting of deadlines.
  • Handle all government reporting requirements for payroll taxes, withholdings and employer contributions.
  • Manage regional payroll partners and PEO, including defining KPIs and standards they are required to meet.
  • Liaise with payroll counterparts in APAC and EMEA to ensure global consistency of payroll processes and practices.
  • Partner with the Benefits team on all matters involving benefits including open enrollment, testing of new benefit codes, and 401k compliance audits/5500 testing. 
  • Partner with the HRIS team for configuration and testing of new codes, tax withholding configurations, inbound/outbound integrations, and all other payroll related projects involving Workday.
  • Partner with Finance stakeholders bridging the relationship between Payroll and Finance functions and support audits, identify and implement control improvements, and ensure efficient processes are rigorously followed..
  • Partner with Equity team for purposes of recording transactions related to restricted stock units, non-qualified stock options, incentive stock options and employee stock purchase plan (ESPP).
  • Improve internal controls to satisfy SOX auditing requirements and simultaneously create efficiencies by leveraging Workday technology.

Who You Are:

  • At least five years of payroll processing experience.
  • At least three years of management experience.
  • Ability to manage a diverse team.
  • Experience with Workday HRIS and payroll module is required.
  • Extensive knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal controls, and payroll taxes.
  • Knowledge of equity compensation processing and reporting.
  • Additional experience using ADP Smart Compliance reporting platform, ADP WorkForce Now and other global payroll platforms.
  • Additional experience working with PEOs or similar third-party arrangements.
  • Proficiency in Excel including pivot tables, VLookups, conditional formatting, if-and formulas.
  • Ability to interpret and communicate policies, procedures and programs.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong technical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Service-oriented attitude and patience to work with a diverse employee population. 
  • Critical thinking and judgment skills.
  • Self-sufficient and able to work independently.

The reasonably estimated salary for this role at Datadog ranges from $112,000 - $164,000, plus a competitive equity package, and may include variable compensation. Actual compensation is based on factors such as the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience.
