Commercial Counsel

Join our global Sales and Alliances Legal team to partner with sales and other internal stakeholders to act as a trusted advisor, with a primary focus on supporting the sales organization in negotiating revenue generating deals for Datadog customers in western North America. The Legal team supports Datadog's rapid growth by providing a wide range of legal services across a highly dynamic technology company, from driving new business via contracts and compliance efforts, to protecting Datadog's intellectual property. This role will be based out of our offices in either San Francisco, Denver, or New York.

What You’ll Do:

  • Review and negotiate customer and partner subscription agreements and ancillary documents such as DPAs.
  • Partner with a seasoned legal team to provide practical and decisive guidance to internal teams. 
  • Train sales team members on strategies for negotiating with customers.
  • Support the ongoing improvement of our contract templates, playbooks and processes.
  • Collaborate with other teams within Legal and across the company to support Datadog’s acceleration of revenue generation and reduction of risk, including product legal, support, deal desk, and privacy.

Who You Are:

  • A natural-born negotiator, communicator, and educator with a minimum of 3 years of legal experience with commercial contracts.
  • Looking for an opportunity to partner with and learn from seasoned legal professionals as we continue to support Datadog’s rapid growth.
  • Someone with integrity, excellent judgment, and a high degree of emotional intelligence; you are prepared to build strong collaboration channels with peers and stakeholders across the business and ready to identify pathways to success with our customers.
  • Comfortable working independently, adhering to established process, and able to recognize when you need guidance. 
  • Excited to drive contracts to closure and comfortable partnering with clients in sales, where you will work on multiple deals at the same time while meeting tight deadlines.
  • Familiar with SaaS and related technology areas, including privacy and intellectual property. 
  • Licensed to practice law and have earned a JD and bar admission in the U.S.
  • Someone in a western U.S. timezone or able to support clients during Pacific Time business hours.

The reasonably estimated salary for this role at Datadog ranges from $171,000 - $251,000, plus a competitive equity package, and may include variable compensation. Actual compensation is based on factors such as the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience.
