Senior Commercial Counsel, Enterprise and Public Sector

Join our global Sales and Alliances Legal team to partner with sales and other key internal stakeholders, acting as a trusted advisor. You will aid in negotiating revenue and generating deals for Datadog as a Senior Attorney responsible for helping to optimize our enterprise contracting practices for scalability with growth.

What You’ll Do: 

  • Review and negotiate customer and partner subscription agreements and ancillary documents such as DPAs and BAAs.
  • Work with senior executives on setting contracting policies, on contract escalations, and on identifying opportunities to accelerate contract closure for enterprise customers and drive implementation of the same.
  • Build and maintain public-sector-specific templates for sales contracts and supporting documents. Also, partner with our product legal team to provide legal advice, counsel, and support to teams tracking public sector technical regulatory compliance.
  • Support (in some cases by drafting) internal company policies related to public sector regulatory requirements.
  • Support and enable Sales and other support teams (including Legal colleagues) to understand and navigate the public sector contracting world.
  • Train legal and sales team members on strategies for negotiating with enterprise customers. In addition manage and maintain company registrations required by public sector customers.
  • Collaborate with other teams within Legal and across the company to support Datadog’s acceleration of revenue generation and reduction of risk, including product and product legal, support, deal desk, and privacy.

Who You Are: 

  • An Attorney with 7+ years of practice, predominantly in the area of commercial transactions, and 2+ years at a law firm or comparable experience.
  • Experienced in 2+ years working with government (Fed &/or SLED) contracting.
  • Experienced in negotiating SaaS contracts for multi-tenant platforms with enterprise customers.
  • Familiar with typical government legal and regulatory contracting requirements (especially in COTS software, ideally with SaaS).
  • Knowledgeable in bridging gaps between government and commercial contracting requirements, methods, cycles, and sensitivities.
  • Confident in supporting sales departments as an internal client and fluent in the areas of technology, privacy, and intellectual property.
  • Someone who enjoys supporting and educating colleagues, and is strong at discovering challenges and finding creative solutions.
  • Emotionally intelligent and adept at building strong collaboration channels with peers and stakeholders across the business while identifying pathways to success with our customers.

The reasonably estimated salary for this role at Datadog ranges from $206,000 - $301,000, plus a competitive equity package, and may include variable compensation. Actual compensation is based on factors such as the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience.
